Named after Bengaluru’s founder, the Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) has equal passenger traffic for both business and leisure, clocking around 50,500 passengers a day, as of March 2018. 2017-18 was a significant year for the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru as It saw robust growth in passenger traffic, air traffic, and cargo throughput, resulting in record numbers. The second terminal work will commence accommodating increasing traffic. The new terminal, which will be constructed in two phases, will cater to approximately 25 million passengers per annum (MPPA) and will measure 2,55,000 sq. mt. in the area.
